“Fracking the Code” is one in my series of otter paintings. This piece deals specifically with the environmental issues of obtaining energy resources and the burden this puts on our fellow animals. Humans attempt to “crack the code” and solve the mystery of our finite resources through industrialized means that put our animal brethren and ourselves in jeopardy.
Painted on Arches hot-pressed archival paper with gouache, “Fracking the Code” features a realistically depicted otter facing two geometric shapes levitating in a wash of yellow. The otter seems to be turning his back on the spray of blue over radiating lines of graphite. Framed, signed and ready to hang!
